Editorial Reviews:
Synopsis
My title is taken from the literally thousands of steps I climbed during my year teaching ESL in Taiwan, but it also indicates the steps I took, to get there, to live and teach there, and to, step by step, share a little of myself with others, as they shared themselves with me. Being a part of the process of education, whether with children or adults, in a country not your own, allowed me to make a contribution to our “small, small, global world," but actually living in Taiwan for a year also gave me the opportunity to really get to know the people, despite our language differences. I kept an almost daily blog that year, and this book is the result. Without my blogging diary, I might have forgotten so many of the details - the hospitality, the environment, the food, the people - young and older, all of whom, all of which make my experience in Taiwan such a treasure-filled time.
